Happiest Birthday Wishes

Using up soon to retire DSP! I love the Well Worn DSP and I am going to miss it.

• The card base is Cajun Craze with a front of Well Worn DSP with the edges distressed.
• Using the Label Framelit I cut a piece of Marina Mist and the embossed it with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
• I cut two flags from different pieces of Well Worn.
• On Crumb Cake Using Not Quite Navy ink I stamped the image from Happiest Birthday Wishes twice. on the first one I punched the center circle out, then punched the whole circle out.  On the second one I punched the second second circle only. Using Dimensionals I stacked the circles on top of each other.

From looking at the card I think you can see how all the pieces went together, if you have any questions just let me know!

Remember...King of the Grill

I decided to make another card using the retired set King of the Grill.

• Card Base is Very Vanilla.
• The image from King of the Grill was stamped with Stazon onto Watercoclor Paper and colored with Watercolor Wonder Crayons and an Aqua Painter. The edges of the Watercolor Paper was roughed up with the Cutter Kit.
• The image was layered onto a piece of Soft Suede that was run through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder. The added to the front of the card base.

Faux Leather Cards

The first card is the card that we made for club this month (we are taking a break for the summer, next club will be September) then second card I made as an example. The Faux Leather oval started as the same size as the oval that mats it, it shrinks that much when you heat them.




To do the Faux Leather you need to start with Fun Foam (go ahead and swipe a piece from the kids). Using the stamp of your choice ink if in Early Espresso Ink, leave it sitting on the ink pad while you heat the Fun Foam with you heat gun, heat it until it gets very soft and the edges start to curl up. Quickly stamp your inked image onto the Fun Foam pressing lightly (if you press to hard you will get the outline of your stamp imbedded as well, if that happens turn the Fun Foam over and heat and stamp again)



Wolf Card



• The card base is Confetti White with a front of Early Espresso that was run through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice folder

• The Faux Leather Wolf head was added to a 2 ½" circle of Confetti White and the phrase was stamped in Cherry Cobbler onto Confetti White,

• Linen thread was tied around the card base and feathers with retired SU beads threaded onto the ends, was tied to the thread.

Sail Boat

• The Card Base is Confetti White with a front of Early Espresso

• A piece of Not Quite Navy with a Marina Mist Oval and a Modern Label was ran through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice folder

• The sail boat was layered onto the embedded oval and a piece of Bakers twine was tied around the card front.

• Happy Birthday was stamped in Early Espresso and stamped on Confetti White and punched with the Word Window

Both of these cards use the same stamp from the set Thanks for Caring found in the Occasions Mini (10 more days Left to order from this Mini)

The top card

•  Card base is Baja Breeze with a front of Whisper White that was ran through the Big Shot with the Finial Press folder.
• The Top Note Die was used cut a piece of Not Quite Navy and then it was ran through with the Vintage Wallpaper folder.
• The oval was cut with the Ovals die and then stamp with the phrase using NQN ink. It is popped up with Dimensionals.

The bottom card

• The card base and all the layers are Whisper White.
• Layer one was ran through the Big Shout with the Square Lattice folder.
• Layer two was ran through with the Vintage Wallpaper folder and the corners were punched with the Ticket Corner punch.
• The oval was cut the same as in the top card but was sprayed with Frost Shimmer Paint spray and stamped with Marina Mist.
• Pearl Jewels were used at the corners that were punched out.

Afterthoughts- embedded embossing.

I love the Square Lattice folder and embedded embossing is one of the reasons why.

• The card base is Whisper White with a front of Early Espresso CS.
• Using all of my circle punches I punch from Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Marina Mist.
• Using markers I colored each line in the birthday phrase from After thoughts. I started with Marina Mist then Soft Suede and last Early Espresso, I stamped it on Whisper White and punched it out with the 1 3/4" circle.
• On a piece of Whisper White CS I randomly laid out my circles adhering some of them overlapping each other. I added my punched out phrase and then placed it into the Square Lattice folder and ran it through the Big Shot.
• Using the cupcake from Itty Bitty Bits I color it with Marina Mist, Soft Suede and Poppy Parade markers. I places the image into a Build-a-brad and attached to the embedded embossed piece. Finally adding it to the card base.

Water Cooler Swaps part 3

Card #1 was made by Marsha, another one of my Water Cooler friends it has been so fun getting to know her.  She used  two Stamp Sets: For All You Do and a Sale-a-bration set  So Happy For You

The Card stocks and DSP she used is: Very Vanilla; Old Olive; Brights DSP Old Olive Stripe, Tangerine Tango Stripe; Daffodil Delight; Tangerine Tango; Neutrals Very Vanilla DSP (dot side). She uses  Old Olive; Pumpkin Pie ink.  Boho Blossoms Punch; Eyelet Border Punch; Modern Label Punch; Dimensionals; Square Lattice Embossing Folder were also used to make the card.

Card #2 was made by Jackie another lady that I have been getting to know though our Stampin' Connection Water Cooler Group.  She used the following: Paper: cherry cobbler, daffodil delight, certainly celery, pretty in pink, red glimmer paper, patterns love DSP, and a very small piece chocolate chip for cherry; The Ink: chocolate chip The Stamp set: Curly Cute (mine is coming Monday, saw the cardm had to get it); she also used a paper crimper, cupcake punch, 2 3/8 scallop circle punch, big shot, tulip embossing folder, perfect polka dots embossing folder, dimensionals.

Card #3 was made by Patti, Patti has added so much fun to our discussions her sense of humor keeps us laughing. She used Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla Card stock with the Finial Press embossing folder and the Ticket Corner punch, Cherry Cobbler seam binding,  and the stamp sets Charmed and Totally Tess (words) and one of the tiny Pearl Jewels.

Card #4 was from Darrah, Darrah is another fellow demo that has been answering my questions from the time I first started with Stampin' UP!.  Darrah used the Stamp sets: Fresh Cuts and Easter Blossoms (mini); Inks: Old Olive and River Rock (the dirt on the pot);  CS: Old Olive, Whisper White and Pumpkin Pie; Punches: 2 1/2" Circle, Word Window (fold cs in half to get a longer window) and Scallop oval; also used is
Sticky strip and 5/8 organza ribbon.

One of the best things I have found as a demo is the friendships as well as the willingness that so many of the demos to share their ideas and knowledge, these ladies and the others that are a part of our Water Cooler group have added so much humor and fun to my days.  I am often laughing at what they write, my kids have even started asking whats going on with your friend at the Water Cooler. . . who would've thunk it?

So I realize my camera takes rotton pictures, sorry. Good news is I will be getting a new one. . .bad news not until the end of April so until then I will keep posting, just know many of the cards look much better in real life. ;)

Countryside- Get Well Wishes

This is a sneak peek for my "Other Occasions" card class that is tomorrow, email ASAP if you want in, I doing the prep work for the class today.  Class times are 11 am and 6:30pm.

• The card base is Confetti White CS with a 3 3/4" x 5" Early Espresso front.
• I stamped the well image from Countryside on water color paper with Stazon and then colored it with Watercolor Wonder Crayons ans an Aqua Painter.
• I layered Early Espresso slightly larger then the image onto a piece of Cajun Craze and ran it through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice folder.
• I stamped Get Well Wishes from Teeny Tiny Wishes with Cajun Craze onto a piece of Confetti White and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch. I punched a piece of Cajun Craze with the same punched and layered the two pieces of center so the there was a border of Cajun Craze around the phrase. I then attached it to the bottom of the Cajun Craze piece (see photo) and attached it to the card front.
• I added the water colored image to the front on the card and was done.

So one of the great things about being a Stampin' UP! demo is the friendships you make.  Stampin' Up! has a forum just for demonstrators where we can share ideas, tips & techniques and just "chat" about stamping. I've made many "Online friends" that I hope to someday meet in person.

The way the forum is set up, if you don't specify a topic for a new discussion, it gets put into the top category, which often has nothing to do with what you're discussing, that isn't always a problem but it can be if the category is one people aren't reading and you're posting a question you need answered. Some of the posters were getting a little upset that no one was answering their posts. There are several ladies who have always taken the time to answer questions that others have, 3 of them have answered many of the questions I have had since I signed up as a demo a few years ago.  Well one of them Darrah(one of the ladies who is always willing to help),  started a thread explaining how to post your discussion in the appropriate area so that they could be found and answered. As new posts were added, Darrah's post was moved lower and lower on the page, and to bring it back to the top, someone would have to "bump" it up by commenting on the post.


Well after you've said, "thanks for the info" 4 or 5 times, it gets little old. So we hijacked the thread. We'd post comments on things we were working on at the moment to "bump" the post back to the top. After a few pages it had nothing at all to do with how to post a discussion( that information was still at the head of the thread), but was just a big long discussion about . . . everything! We talked about llamas, our children, pet peeves, and natural disasters ( one of our forum friends  lives in Japan so we heard first-hand news after the earthquake). After about 60 pages or so, we realized it wasn't helping anyone with their posts, but had found a great place to share with like minded friends, so we renamed our discussion "The Water Cooler," because it's where we go when we need a break or just a good laugh. It's a lot of fun, even my kids ask "what's new at the Water Cooler?" it is close to 200 pages long now.
So about  20 of us decided to do a card swap together. The only rules were make it a card front 4" x 5 1/8".  You could use techniques or not, embellishments or not, layers or not.  Since they were card fronts only, they can be layered on a card base.  It has been so much fun going to the mailbox each day and finding another card front, I have received about 14 so far and am looking forward to more. So over the next few days I am going to start showing you some of the the amazing talents of the Water Cooler Llama Mamas.  You are going to be amazed! So come back and checked out their work.

• Fold the Very Vanilla CS in half, add the Not Quite Navy(NQN) CS front

• On the 3 ¾" x 5" Very Vanilla CS using Marina Mist stamp the rose image from "Elements of Style" then place in the Square Lattice folder and run through the Big Shot.

• Ink up the "Elizabeth" stamp with Stazon and stamp on the piece of Shimmer sprayed Very Vanilla CS, use a blender pen and Marina Mist to color in the image. Use the stamp a ma jig to center let's celebrate from the "On Your Birthday" stamp set using NQN ink. Use the Ticket Corner punch on the corners.

• Layer the image onto NQN CS and add it to the card front add a Pearl Jewel to each corner (see sample)

CASEd Nature Walk

Here are some details on mine

• Card Base is Always Artichoke
• Six squares of Watercolor paper punched with the 1 1/4" square punch. Each stamped with a portion of a stamp from Nature Walk, using Stazon. Colored with Markers and an Aqua Painter.
• Six 1 3/8" squares punched from Pacific Point, six square cut 1 1/2" from Cajun Craze. These were layered with a finished image.
• I cut a piece of Chocolate Chip 3 1/2" x 5" ran it through the big shot in the Square Lattice folder. Layered all on the card base.

A Christmas Wish. . .Welcome Christmas

Here is another card using Welcome Christmas, I hope you like it.

• The card base is Garden Green with a front of Very Vanilla, then a layer of Cherry Cobbler,
• I stamped the image in Cherry Cobbler onto Very Vanilla, using the same color I stamped the phrase from Home for Christmas.
• After stamping I ran the image through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice folder and added it to the layers on the card base.
• I wrapped a piece of the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding around the card and knotted.
• I stamped the word Merry in Garden Green on Very Vanilla and punched it out with the jewelry tag punch. I threaded it onto a piece of crochet thread that I had colored Garden Green and tied it to the knot of the seam binding.

Countryside/water pump

Another watercolor card. . .

• Card base is Very Vanilla with  layer of Early Espresso that was run through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice folder.
• I stamped the pump on Watercolor paper with Stazon ink and colored the image with markers and an Aqua Painter.
• I layered the image onto a piece of Cajun Craze and added it to the front of my card.

The images from Countryside are suitable for men as well as women, so this card could be given to either, stamp a greeting on the inside and it could be anything from a Birthday to a Thank-you.

Countryside

Yesterday was the first day for my new club, I think everyone had a great time. This is the card we made, after I get some pictures taken I'll post the other project we did as well.  I show cased markers, showing watercoloring with markers and coloring directly on stamps with markers. The card. . .

• The card base is Very Vanilla with a front of Not Quite Navy.
• I stamped the truck from Countryside with Stazon on Watercolor paper, we stamped the apple 3 times on scraps of Watercolor paper.
• Using Markers and an Aqua Painter we colored the images. By coloring directly on the paper in the areas you want the darkest shadows to be you can use the Aqua painter to pull the colors to the other areas. Going back and adding more marker and pulling it until satisfied with the depth of color. I used Not Quite Navy for the truck, Maria Mist for the sky(lay some water down on the sky area first and then maker to get a light even wash), More Mustard and Soft Suede for the ground, Garden Green for the sign, Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede for the apples and baskets.
• I layered the image on Riding Hood Red CS, wrapped Linen Thread around one side and added a Jewelry Tag stamped with a phrase from Tiny tags in Riding Hood Red on Very Vanilla CS.
• The 3 apples were colored with Riding Hood Red and Old Olive and then cut out. Using Glue dots I added them to the card front and then ran the card front through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Die, embedding the apple images into the card front. I then added the front to the card base.
• Finished the card off by adding the image to the card and using Soft Suede to add the Pump image from the same set to the inside of the card.

Birthday Bakery- Cakes

I think this Hostess Stamp Set is fun! 
I often find that when I cut Watercolor paper for classes I get odd sized scraps. This stamp set works on a lot of those, the Watercolor paper I used on this card as well as the card in the last post were leftovers from cutting for other projects.

• Card base is Very Vanilla( I tend to use Very Vanilla whenever I use Watercolor paper). The Front is Very Vanilla that was run through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper folder.
• Using Stazon I stamped the cakes on Watercolor Paper and colored using Markers and an Aqua Painter, this seems to be my favorite way to watercolor lately.
• I layered my image on Tempting Turquoise and Melon Mambo(photo color is off), then layered it on a piece of Very Vanilla that I ran through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice folder, centering it on the card front.

I think this is a fun birthday card. What do you think?

In Wilderness- Wolf

I realized I had never posted this card from my masculine card class from a few months ago.

• Card base is always Artichoke
• I cut Always Artichoke into 3 pieces so that when layered onto a front (4"x5 1/4") their was the same amount of Early Espresso showing(because I made this card months ago I don't have the measurements). I ran the pieces of Always Artichoke through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice folder.  After layering the Always Artichoke onto the card front I attached 3 Jumbo Eyelets with the Crop-a-dile.  I added this to the card base.
• On a square of Watercolor paper I stamped the Wolf head with stazon and colored it with Watercolor Wonder Crayons and an Aqua Painter.  I then layered it on Always Artichoke and again on Early Espresso and centering it on the card.

Happy I Do Day

This was a very fast and simple card!

• The card base is Basic Black
• I ran a piece of Whisper White through the Big Shot with the Elegant Lines folder
• I punch a heart from Basic Black and one from Whisper White
• I ran the black heart through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice folder and the white heart I sprayed with shimmer paint spray and added the tiniest pearls to the front
• I stamped the phrase from Word Play on the Whisper White card front with stazon, I added a rhinestone on the ring that the O makes
• I popped the hearts up on the card with Dimensionals

More CASEing

This time I CASEd Diana Gibbs, this is her card http://dianagibbs.typepad.com/stampin_with_di/2010/06/happy-birthday-human.html and nope I sure did not change much on this one.

• Card base is Very Vanilla with a front of Not Quite Navy ran through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice folder.
• Image is repeat stamped across a strip of Very Vanilla.
• An extra image was stamped on a scrap and colored with Markers, Peach Parfait and NQN then punched with the 1 3/8" circle punch, Popped up over the center image with Dimensionals.
• The phrase is stamped with stazon, punched with the Word Window and layered on Pumpkin Pie and Peach Parfait Modern Label.
• The ribbon was colored with the Peach Parfait marker.

Birthday Bliss

Today is my second daughters 23rd Birthday, Happy Birthday Jamie! This card is available to make on my Open Studio Tuesdays.

• The card base is Sahara Sand, with 1/2" cut off the card front, distressed the edge and added a 1" strip of Blueberry Crisp paper showing from the inside.
• I stamped the phrase from Birthday Bliss 3 times lining up it up with the stamp-a-ma-jig so that it looks like one long phrase. I colored the stamp with Not Quite Navy and Pacific Point Markers stamping onto Very Vanilla CS. After stamping I ran the paper through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice folder. The phrase is mounted on Not Quite Navy CS.

So this isn't the card I will be giving my daughter (too masculine I think) I'll have to work on one today. Hope You like today's card, let me know what you think of it. Remember to check out my retired sale on the sidebar.

Because I Care- again

I made another card with the level 1 Hostess set called Because I Care and the set Tiny Tags.

• The base of the card is Regal Rose with a layer of Old Olive.
• I stamped the hydrangea using Regal Rose and Old Olive randomly on Very Vanilla. After stamping I ran the CS through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice folder (I think it kind of makes the background look like fabric). I wrapped a piece of Old Olive ribbon around the lower half and added this to the other layers.
• I stamped the hydrangea 4 times on scrap CS and cut each one out smaller then the one before. I layered each layer with dimensionals and then added the smallest pearls to the centers of the flowers. I cut the leaves out and left off the stem. I added the finished flower to a piece of Old Olive CS that I had punched the corners with the Ticket Corner punch.
• I stamped a couple of phrases from Tiny Tags and punched them out and tied them to the knot on the ribbon with croquet thread.

If I were to redo the card I think I would make the piece of Old Olive CS under the flower a square instead of a rectangle. Tell me what you think and have a wonderful night.

Baby Tees

• I ran just half of a piece of Daffodil Delight (8 1/2" x 5 1/2") in the Square Lattice folder through the Big Shot. then folded the paper in half (I have found that the folders shorten the paper slightly folding it after the Bog Shot makes all m edges even).
• I punched a window in the card front with the Word Window Punch and on the inside of the card I stamped "Hello Baby".
• I ran the Baby Tees on a piece of Whisper White and colored them Pear Pizazz, Daffodil Delight and Marina Mist. I layered it on a piece of Pear Pizazz.
• I cut an additional Tee and cut it out and popped it on Dimensionals.

Blossom Party- Get Well

This card uses 3 new colors, Early Espresso Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizazz.

• The card base is Whisper White with a front of Daffodil Delight that was run through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice folder.
• Another layer of Whisper White that I Ticket Punched the corners on.
• I ran the Pear Pizazz through the Big Shot using the Sizzlit Little Leaves.
• Daffodil Delight was ran through the Big Shot with the Blossom Party die.
• The centers for the flowers were punched with the 1/2" Circle punch, using Early Espresso.
• The phrase is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, stamped with Certainly Celery on Whisper White punched with the Word Window. It is layered on a piece of Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizazz punched with the Modern Label punch.
