WWC189 - Heidi's "All About Holidays" Challenge

Heidi is our host this week!

This week I didn't make a card instead I made an advent calendar!
This one is in progress. I still need to add numbers to the drawers.
I used a sheet of paper from 2 different packages of DSP, Festive Farmhouse & Joyous Noel. I mounted them on Cherry Cobbler & Shaded Spruce Cardstock. I sponged the edges of the drawers and the sides of the box with Frost Shimmer Paint.
For this one, I used two sheets from Joyous Noel DSP. I sponged the edges of the drawers and the sides of the box with Bright Copper Shimmer Paint. The numbers are cut from Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper.

These Advent Calendars are an upcoming class I will be holding.

Crafting Break

This was the view from my front porch 1 week ago! As of today, the fire is 12% contained.

I've been spending my days working at Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Our community is taking care of the 6000 evacuees for the Bald Mountain & Pole Creek Fires that are surrounding our town. We replaced the Red Cross.

Everything is donated by the surrounding communities we are providing, clothes, bedding, hygiene, batteries, laundry products, food, first aid supplies as well as some items to help entertain displaced children. One of our local churches is opened during the day so that moms with small kids can play, watch movies etc. while the older siblings are in school.

I come home exhausted but happy that I am helping others in their time of need.

The latest Fire Update!

Night operations on the #BaldMountainFire is reporting very little fire activity last night. The fire is at 17,999 acres and 12% containment. Evacuations remain in effect.
Due to the hard work of firefighters and favorable weather conditions, the fire #PoleCreekFire is now 32% contained and US Hwys 6 and 89 are now open in all directions. Though the roads have now been opened, the forest closure is still in place.
The Pole Creek Fire continued its northern growth in Wanrhodes Creek today. Firefighters and aerial resources worked hard to protect structures and slow the fire from advancing into Hobble Creek Canyon. However, residents in Left Fork Hobble Creek Canyon were put on alert today to open any front-access gates and to move flammables away from their structures. This is a precautionary action that will allow firefighters to prepare for structure protection should the fire advance into that area.
On the southeast flank, the fire continued to burn towards the Coal Hollow Fire, which crews are using as a fire break. Multiple “super scoopers” air tankers used Strawberry Reservoir as a water source for drops on this portion of the fire. Evacuations remain in effect.

WWC188 - Helen's Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Helen is our host this week!
I was preparing cards for a card class and wanted a card that could be given to a male or a female. Sometimes I find it hard to do a gender neutral card. As I was trying to decide I noticed a piece of Tranquil Textures DSP that was out and the rest was history!

This week has been crazy and at times scary. I am about 4 miles from 2 of the largest wildfires currently burning in the US! Two of the surrounding towns have been evacuated and mine is pre-evacuated. I've had an up-close look at this fire. Not much crafting has been going on.  I've been helping out at the evacuee relief center. Today I am holding a class so that some of those that are evacuated can come over and craft.

WWC187 - Kath's "All About Occasions" Challenge

I'm hosting our challenge this week!
One of the first non-Christmas stamp set to was Pleasant Pheasants I thought they'd make great fall & masculine themed cards.
I used the Watercolor Pencils to color the pheasants I skipped an Aqua Painter or a Blender Pen and used just a q-tip to softly blend the colors.

I had to use a retired Framelit set to find an oval large enough to get all the image.

The Wood Textures DSP had a sheet that was the same tones as the Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry & Early Espresso pencil blending on the male pheasant.

The sentiment is from You're Inspiring.

WWC186 - Marsha's Feminine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Marsha is our host this week!
I procrastinated this week and my card as well as my post. :)
I hadn't made my card as of Friday night and my husband woke me up early Saturday morning wanting to know if I wanted to go to Moab for 4 days. I'm not stupid so of course, I said yes!

So here it is 3 hours before the post goes live... procrastination!
I used Wonderful Moments for this challenge.
I stamped the image with Memento ink before coloring it with Stamping Blends. I rounded the corners with the Detailed Trio Punch. This is a fast & easy card.
