Frightening Feline

I ordered so much more from the Holiday Catalog then I ever have when it was the Holiday Mini. This is my favorite of the Halloween sets this year.

  • The Card Base is Cajun Craze.
  • I made banner streamer from the Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP and added them to the card base.
  • On a piece of Tangerine Tango from the Brights  DSP Stack I heat embossed the image from Frightening Feline with Black Embossing Powder. I added the smallest of the pearls colored black as eyes.  I cut it out with a Window Frame Collection Framelit and layered it on a piece of Basic Black cut the next size up.
  • I popped the image up with Dimensionals on the card front.
So my first Halloween card of the year. Have you done any Halloween stamping yet?

Bootiful Occasions

This was a stamp set I was thinking of buying, my friend Darrah's swap pushed into doing it. I used a lot of product from the new Holiday Catalog to make this card.
  • The card base in Naturals White CS layered with Real Red CS.
  • I ran the new Core'dinations CS through the Big Shot with the new Woodgrain Embossing Folder. I lightly sanded the grain and then added it to the front.
  • On a piece of Naturals White CS I stamped the Cowboy boot from Bootiful Occasions in Versamark and heat embossed with Early Espresso Embossing Powder. I then cut it out with the Window Frame Collection Framelits die, cutting a Real Red CS the next size up as well.
  • I used the Color Spritzer Tool and a Real Red and Midnight Muse Marker to add color to the boot (I need more practice, the blue needed a light mist). I layered it on the Real Red and the popped it up on the card front with Dimensionals.
So there you have it my first use of Bootiful Occasions.

One in a Million

So I decided to play with the new butterfly punch- I like it so much more then the one that it replaced.

  • The card base is Naturals White I used the Designer Frames Folder to emboss a frame for the phrase.
  • The phrase is from One in a Million I inked it with Midnight Muse.
  • I used the Elegant Butterfly Punch to punch butterflies from Midnight Muse, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. I folded their wings away from their bodies slightly and attached them in a row down the left side.
A simple card, but I am just warming back up ;)

Two by Two

I don't know if you have the same problem as me, but if I have been unable to stamp for awhile I find it hard to do. So my go to is Watercoloring. Here is what I made.

  • Card base is So Saffron with the front embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder.
  • The image was stamped on Watercolor Paper with Stazon and colored with Ink and an Aqua Painter. The image was then cut out with the Label Framelit.
  • I used the next size larger Label Framelit to cut a piece of Midnight Muse CS, I then embossed it with the Argyle Embossing Folder.
I think it makes a fun baby card, what do you think?

I am almost back ;)

My summer at Maple Dell Scout Camp has ended, all in all it was an interesting summer.  My sons both worked there for the beginning of the summer but only my oldest worked there the full summer.  I ran the Trading Post at the camp, I worked with a fun staff this year and enjoyed being with them. Our Council assessed us an amount that they wanted us to bring in as profit, we passed that amount by $20,000(I tried to keep my prices low, it was fun to hear "Wow this is even cheaper then I can get it in town" and we heard that often) so we made them happy.
My son Trevor in the center of the photo(working in the Trading Post)

My older son Breathing Fire at a Staff Talent Show.

I did inform the camp Director that this was the last year, I will not be returning to staff next year.  It was hard to be away from stamping for so long!

I'll be back to share cards later.

Serene Silhouettes Stampin' Llama Card Swap

It has been longer then I meant for it to be since I last posted. I'll add my non stamping update at the end for anyone that is interested.
The Stampin' Llamas are swapping again, this is my swap, it is a card that a photo does not do it justice.

  • The card base is Naturals White CS, layered with a front of Early Espresso CS, layered again with a 3 3/4"x 5" piece of Glossy CS that I smooshed Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint on. (I wadded up a wrapper off of some new DSP, dabbed in the paint and blotted it all over the Glossy Paper)
  • I sprayed a piece of Soft Suede CS with  Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint Spray then cut it with a Label Framelit using the Big Shot. I layered it centered onto the card front.
  • I inked the image from Serene Silhouettes with Crumb Cake then colored the flowers with an Early Espresso marker, huffed on it then stamped it onto the CS. I cut it with a Label Framelit using the Big Shot. I sponged the edges with Early Espresso ink. I popped it up on the first framelit with Dimensionals.
  • I stamped the phrase from Itty Bitty Banners in Early Espresso onto Naturals White then cut it with the Bitty Banners Framelits. I curled it with a Bone Folder and then added a Dimensional on the back in the center, added adhesive to the ends and added it to the bottom of the image.
I hope the ladies I swap with like the card!

Now an update on the last month... I have been working at Maple Dell Scout Camp this summer (my son is the Captain on the pirate ship in the video) I get up at 5:30 am get ready for the day and head up to the mountain. I manage the Trading Post, it is open 8:30 am until 7:30 pm. I end up getting home between 9 and 11 pm I am working Monday through Saturday with a 7 pm meeting Sunday night, so pretty much I am always at Scout Camp or sleeping. I have a great staff of kids working for me this year. You may have heard that Utah is on fire this year there have been 486 fires with 359,735 acres burned so far. 3 of the fires have been close enough to rain ash on the camp and to make it smoky enough to make those with breathing conditions have difficulty breathing. Another Scout camp had to be evacuated and some of their troops ended up at our camp and will continue coming for the next week or so. So I have found little time to stamp. I will post my swaps as I can, the ladies I swap with do fine work!  Thanks for sticking with me.

Another Llama Hop. . .

The Stampin' Llamas hopped again this week, sadly I was unable to participate this time as I was busy working at Scout Camp. Here is a Link to the home page so that you can check out the work of my friends.

Here is a card that I started but didn't finish... I can't decide how to finish it. Any ideas? Please help me with it.

  • The card base is Naturals White.
  • I stamped the image from Summer Afternoon on Naturals White with Stazon and colored it with Ink and an Aqua Painter. I cut it out with the Label Framelit.
  • I cut two Raspberry Ripple Framelits the same size as the Naturals White and cut each in half in opposite directions. They were layered behind the image to frame it.
  • I cut a larger Midnight Muse Framelit and ran it through the Big Shot with the Flowers a Plenty Embossing Folder. The framed image was popped up with Dimensionals on top of it and added to the card base.
  • Now I am stumped I can't decide what to do now, so I am looking for suggestions..
We just finished our first week with Scouts in camp, it was a successful week. I have a good staff this year that I enjoy working with.  My favorite Scout returned to camp this last week. His name is Paul, I mentioned him last year( he earned the archery Merit Badge last year).  He is blind but doesn't let that stop him, he has the sunniest personality and is so enjoyable to be around. We head up to camp tonight for week two.  We come home with enough time to do laundry, sleep, go to church and head back up.

I miss stamping so go stamp this week and think of me :).

Another Summer Afternoon

I used another stamp from Summer Afternoon. I also used new Framelits.

  • The card base is Naturals White.
  • I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits on a piece of Island Indigo I then ran it through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.
  • I cut a piece of Calypso Coral with the Label Framelit. (yes I love the Big Shot and the Framelits and Embossing Folders, I got the three new folders this week while I was up at camp I'm hoping to get to play with them after church today). The Calypso Coral piece is layered behind the Island Indigo piece and added to the card base.
  • I stamped the image from Summer Afternoon onto Watercolor paper with Stazon Ink. I colored the image with Ink and an Aqua Painter> I cut the image with the Label Framelits and then popped it up with Dimensionals on the card.
Do you love Summer Afternoon as much as I do?

Update on the first week at Scout camp. This week is called Do or Die, we spend the week setting up, repairing, and cleaning camp(160 acres) getting it ready for a summer with Scouts. It is a lot of hard work a we are in a dry year and had more dead fall this winter then we did last year so hauling wood and general clean up seemed to be more then last year.  We had some difficulties to work with, someone on the Council level made the mistake of scheduling a Webelos Woods and a Timerline Course at the same time we needed to set up camp, so we were trying to work around people who were in the way.  We we able to leave camp at about 6pm last night pretty much ready for Scout Troops to start arriving tomorrow, we head back up again tonight at 6pm.  We have a pretty good group of Staff members this year and I think this year will be better then last year.  I am really please with the Staff I have in the Trading Post, they are great workers!

So until next Saturday or Sunday when I can post again I hope you find plenty of time to stamp and enjoy yourselves.

Summer Afternoon

A new Hostess Set, great for Watercoloring!
The Hostess Set is called "Summer Afternoon".

  • The card base is Whisper White.
  • I stamped the image with Stazon onto Watercolor paper I colored the image with markers using an Aqua Painter to move the colors around. The cart is Raspberry Ripple a new In Color, and one of my favorites! I punched the image out with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch.
  • I die cut a Gumball Green CS 3" Circle with the Big Shot. Then I ran it through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper folder. The image was layered onto it.
  • I stamped the phrases from "Petite Pairs" in Raspberry Ripple onto scraps of Watercolor paper and punched them out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch they were layered onto Primrose Petals CS punched with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch.
  • The image was popped up with Dimensionals.
I think this is a "happy" card. I hope you enjoyed it.

On a personal note... I have started my summer job working at a Boy Scout Camp so I will be posting every Sunday until the middle of August, if I get time I will post in between. I didn't want anyone to think that  I was stopping my blog, I just won't have the internet during the week.
