On the Grow with Swirls and Curls Verses

Here is a card using two stamp sets from the Summer Mini catalog
The image is from On the Grow. The phrase is from the Hostess set called Swirls and Curls Verses.
  • The card base is Pacific Point
  • On the Whisper White I stamped Thinking of you in Melon Mambo, then I ran it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots folder and added it to the card base.
  • I stamped the image on watercolor paper with Stazon. I colored the flowers Melon Mambo and the leaves Pear Pizzazz. The Jar is Pacific Point and the shadow is Tempting Turquoise. I used markers and an Aqua Painter.
  • The image is layered onto Melon Mambo then onto Pacific Point and then it was added to the card front.
SO for the summer my posts will not be as often, I have taken a job at a nearby Boy Scout Camp and will be working for the next two months, I will be back on week ends and checking my emails each night so I will try to keep everyone up to date.

Easter Blossoms

It has felt like Spring the last few days and while I have been inside working on classes and Scouts, I have made it outside to run errands and have enjoyed the warmth.  The tulips and daffodils are starting to poke through the ground and the crocus are in bloom.  Maybe I will find time this weekend. On to the card. . .
  • The card base is Whisper White, I stamped Happy Easter in Tempting Turquoise centered on the lower half of the card.
  • I stamped the egg three times once in Tempting Turquoise then Daffodil Delight and last Melon Mamba. I cut them each out and added dimensionals to the back.
  • I ran a rectangle of Whisper White through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots folder, I layered it onto a piece of Melon Mamba DSP and centered it above the greeting.
  • I added the cut out eggs to the panel on the card.
The card makes me feel like spring!

On another note, our Scout District had it annual Adult Leader Recognition Banquet and I was honored to receive the District Award of Merit.  The food wasn't the best but the program was pretty darn good. Getting everything ready for the event was stressful and a lot of work and it is a relief to have it done.  I do appreciate all the volunteers that give so much time to the youth of our area.

Fox and Friends

For kids I like to make cards with stacked images, here are a couple from the past, using adifferent stamp set.
http://kath-allthatscrap.blogspot.com/2009/01/bugs-and-kisses.html
http://kath-allthatscrap.blogspot.com/2009/09/bugs-and-kisses.html

Here is how I made this card.

• Fold the Daffodil Delight Card Stock in half

• Run the 4" x 5 ¼" piece of Whisper White Card Stock through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dot folder, then layer it onto the card base

• On the Whisper White piece of CS stamp the animals from "Fox and Friends" on top of each other using the Stamp a ma jig to line them up. Layer the image onto the piece of Old Olive CS

• On a scrap piece of Whisper White CS stamp the phrase from "Party Hearty" by using markers to color directly onto the stamp (Cajun Craze and Old Olive) huff on the stamp and press onto the CS. Punch out the phrase with the small tag punch layer it onto a Daffodil Delight tag

• Use a black brad to attach the phrase to the stamped image and attach it onto the card front

• If desired pick a phrase and stamp on the inside.

Nature Walk

I love the images from this set from the new Occasions Mini.  I have seen some cute Vintage Collage  cards, not my style but one I want to try.  Until then here is one that I have done.
  • Card base is Marina Mist, with a front of Very Vanilla.
  • The flower image and the bee were both stamped with Stazon on Watercolor Paper, the bee was punched with the Tag punch. I colored the images with Markers and an Aqua Painter. I layered both images on Daffodil Delight CS.
  • The flower was layered twice the bottom layer is Marina Mist CS that I ran through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots folder, then added to the front of the card.
  • The bee was added overlapping the flower image.
I like the clean look of this card, I have CASEd two other cards using this set and will post them for you in the upcoming days. If I achieve a Vintage/Collage card that I like I will post that as well.

CASEing Vickie Burdick

When I started planning cards for my Greeting Card Kids class (tomorrow) I had a hard time thinking of a card for this image, I had already planed one that I cut the image out cutting off the heart and making it into a birthday card. But as a Valentine's day card it wasn't coming to me, then I found Vickie's card (check it out )http://itsastampthing-vicki.blogspot.com/2010/07/mtsc84thank-you.html  as you can see I CASEd it pretty closely.
• Fold Pretty in Pink card base in half

• Stamp image with Stazon in the center of the WCP, color with markers and an Aqua Painter, colors used Pretty in Pink(heart), Marina Mist(dress and bow), Daffodil Delight(hair), Blush Blossom(skin), soft Suede (for shadow to ground image)

• Run the Pretty in Pink CS through the Big Shot with the Backgrounds Textures Plate, layer it on Whisper White. Run the Maria Mist through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots folder layer on Whisper White. Add the Marina Mist/Whisper White layer on the card base; add the Pretty in Pink/Whisper White on top.

• Stamp happy valentine's day from "Teeny Tiny Wishes" on the piece of Whisper White with Marina Mist

• Layer the image on Marina Mist, adhere the phrase behind the Marina Mist and center on the card.

After Thoughts- Hostess Level 1

I liked the tongue in cheek phrases in After thoughts, I think they are fun. I also think that the cake in Birthday Bliss is really cute, but it was too small to go with this phrase.  So I made a paper cake patterned off the image from Birthday Bliss.
  • Card Base is Pear Pizazz,
  • Cake is Chocolate, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, and Pink Pirouette. I used the square punches, trimmed them and corner rounded them, ran some through the Big Shot in folders and also used border punches. I stacked my cake using Dimensionals, on a scallop Oval of Whisper White as my plate.
  • I stamped my phrase on Whisper White using the Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink markers.  I used the new Scallop Square Clearlit to cut out my phrase. I added 3 pink Rhinestone brads and was finished!
For some reason the phrase in the photo looks crooked, not in real life. Over all I'm happy with the card

Birthday Block

So at this time I have very little ribbon that is current or will be current on July 1. So for this card I improvised.

  • I colored the Black striped Grosgrain Ribbon with a sponge and Melon Mambo ink.
  • Instead of a knot in the ribbon I used a Rhinestone brad to hold it closed.
  • I stamped the stamp in Melon Mambo and then with the Basic Black Marker I colored two lines of words on the stamp, I then stamped on Whisper White.
  • I Matted this on Basic Black, then Melon Mambo, then Basic Black, to this I added the Ribbon.
  • I ran a piece of Whisper White through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dot folder, mounted it on a Melon Mambo card front and then added the matted phrase.

I like how this one turned out.

Tuxedo Heart- Wedding/failure

When I first came up with the idea of a tuxedo heart I never thought it would become so popular, in fact my daughters roommate had to remind me to post it. ( http://kath-allthatscrap.blogspot.com/2010/01/wedding-no-stamping-2.html )

Here is one that doesn't quite work ;). I used the new color *Marina Mist for the base as well as the Top Note, and while I like this color, paired with white it looks washed out. I love this phrase, it is from a new level 3 Hostess set called Occasional Quotes. The Whisper White card front and heart were run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dot folder, the Basic Black heart I used the Square Lattice. I sprayed both pieces of Whisper White with Shimmer Paint Spray.

So here's to one that doesn't quite make it! I'll try again because I still like the Tuxedo Heart cards and it is wedding season again.

*edited. . . I just relized today(6-29-10) that I used Baja Breeze not Marina Mist, I feel so much better about the card now (not that I like it, but I don't dislike Marina Mist)
