Stampin' Up! Demostrators present "The Wacky Watercooler New Catalog(ue) Blog Hop"

Welcome to our first ever Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop! We hope to make this a fairly regular happening. If you come across a broken link you can find the participating blogs on our home blog site.
You may have hopped over from Kathe's Blog, I have hopped with her on our Llama Ladies Blog Hops. I enjoy visiting her blog and was lucky enough to meet her last week and will share her swap at a later date.  So I thought I would share the swaps I made as well as one additional project.

This is my favorite swap I made! Hopefully the ladies I swapped with liked it too.

Faux Watercoloring
Mist Watercolor paper with water. Ink stamp and stamp on moist paper. Dry paper, re-ink stamp and stamp again.
Stamps: Too Kind, Lots of Thoughts
Ink: Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Raspberry Ripple
Paper: Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Very Vanila, Watercolor, DSP Stack
Misc: Chalk Talk Framelit, Mosaic Punch, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

My second swap uses a stamp from the annual cataloge as well as a sneek peek of Washi tape from the upcoming holiday catalog (ask your demonstrator how you can get it before the catalog is released)
Stamps: Seasonal Sayings
Ink: Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie Markers
Paper:Very Vanilla
Misc: Witches Brew Washi Tape and Dimensionals

My last project isn't a swap it is a gift I made for a Bridal Shower I used both current and retired product on this project along with a couple of non SU items. I have several pictures so bear with me.
I made the cover of the scrapbook by cutting the very heavy (almost chipboard) cardboard that comes with the Specialty DSP in three pieces to make the spine and front and back covers. I covered the boards with DSP adding Cherry Cobbler Co'ordination CS as a wrap around the spine. I heat embossed in Gold "Forever and Always" from Loving Thoughts on the cover and decorated the front with Basic Pearls.
Here is the Spine.
I tied the retired Cherry Cobbler Tulle and some gold non SU wired ribbon around the spine, hanging from the ribbon are three Cherry Cobbler tags gold embossed with words from Loving Thoughts as well as a lock and key.
I'll Show you a few of the pages.

The pages are made from envelopes(left over from my daughter wedding invitations) they are cut so each envelope is a tube and covered with DSP and then Decorated with current and retired elements. I used many different Framelits to create mats for photos or journaling in each pages tube the are two pull out pages.
Pull out page with a copy of their wedding announcement already added, the rest of the pages are for her to fill.  Here are a few more pages.

There are more pages but that gives you an idea of my project.
I used the following Framelits:
Window Frames Collection, Labels Collection, Ovals Collection, Circles Collection, Chalk Talk, Apothecary Accents and  Hearts Collection.
Edgelits Used:
Adorning Accents, Finishing Touches and Large Scallop.

One of my customers saw it and has asked if I will be offering a class so I am working on that idea.

So now it is time to hop on over to Bev's Blog.

Stampin' UP! convention started yesterday in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was unable to attend this year but the Opening Ceremonies were streamed live and recorded for us to share. So if you are interested here is the video.

I was able to meet my Llama Friends for a long lunch in SLC and we swapped cards so I will be sharing them over the next few posts.

The first one I received was from Buffy, she was also the first Llama I met.

Here are some details as I see them:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Soft Suede and Basic Black
Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Soho Subway DSP (remember DSP is buy 3 get one free until the end of July)

Love Buffy's Cards I've been following her blog since she started it.

You might wonder why we call ourselves Llamas so here is our story(it's a long one) as I remember it...

Stampin! Up! has a demo forum that demos can chat, ask questions share idea etc. in theory a great idea but it doesn't always run smoothly. They have several categories/topics that they have a short description of what you should be able to find in that category sadly not everyone reads what they are and since there is not a board moderator (strange huh?) the board was and still is a mess. The top category is the default dump for any thread started that does not have a category selected at the time of posting. In an effort to make questions easier to find and answer and in an effort to make the un-moderated board more useful Darrah started a thread explaining how to locate categories and tag posts. In an effort to keep that information at the top of the board several of us started "bumping" the thread but after a few "bumps" we started chatting thus keeping the thread alive and at the top.  SU! finally added additional categories and Darrah moved the thread to "All About You" and renamed it the  Wacky Women's Watercooler (a place to stop and talk just like an office watercooler in days gone bye. To make it easier to find and because the interesting conversations we had(one all about Llamas, from weaving their wool? to raising them and more) Darrah added the word Llama to the tags because she was pretty sure nothing else would have that tag. So many of the original participants started referring to ourselves as Llama, some of us have a Llama as an Avatar.
We wanted a place to talk about everything going on in our lives and so we started a site where we can meet and talk about life and Stampin' Up, a place we can vent about anything or share our joys and know that someone else is happy for us. Together we started blog hopping and have a site with links to all our hops http://stampinllamas.blogspot.com/. The watercooler is still there, faces and tones have changed since the day(Dec 2, 2010) it started, some of the originals still stop in from time to time. The watercooler will be having their own hop very soon here is the landing page for it http://wackywatercoolerstamping.blogspot.com/

Any way after 2 1/2 years as on line friends I was able to meet a few of them in person yesterday, it was a fun afternoon!

Remembering Your Birthday -masculine

I made a masculine birthday card using the same sentiment as my last post.

  • The card base is Whisper White CS.
  • On the upper right corner I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed it with Early Espresso Embossing Powder.
  • Using the Hexagon punch and Early Espresso, Soft Suede and Baked Brown Sugar CS I punched a stack of shapes.
  • I popped the Hexagons up on the card with Dimensionals.
Fast and easy!

Remembering Your Birthday

Back to making birthday cards and playing with Washi Tape.

  • The card base is Whisper White CS I cut 3/4" off the bottom of the front,
  • I used the Calypso Coral Washi Tape to make the border at the bottom I tore piece approx. 2" long and folded the so that there was about 1/4" of the sticky side showing. Starting at one side I taped the Washi Tape overlapping the bt about a third each time.
  • I wrapped the stripped Washi Tape around the card base covering the edges of the Coral tape. I made the bow by folding the tape in half and then making a loop with it pinching it in the middle and wrapping more tape around it. I folded another piece in half and flagged both end of it, than layered the loop on top of it.
  • From scraps of Calypso Coral CS and Crisp Cantaloupe CS I punched hexagons than added them to the card base.
  • On a scrap of Whisper White CS I stamped the sentiment from Remembering Your Birthday. I inked the stamp in Crisp Cantaloupe ink coloring the word celebrate with the Calypso Coral Marker.
  • I cut the sentiment out with the Chalk Talk Framelit, popped it up with Dimensionals and added two Calypso Coral Candy Dots.
I had fun with the Washi Tape and have another birthday card to add to my rack.

For the Newlyweds

I made another Wedding card to add to my rack.  White and Strawberry.

  • The card base is Whisper White CS layered with Shimmery White CS. I rounded the corners on both pieces.
  • The cake is three different sizes of rectangles of Whisper Whiter CS with the top corners rounded. I ran each rectangle through the Big Shot with a different Embossing Folder. I used Beautifully Baroque, Perfect Polka Dots and from the upcoming Holiday Catalog(sneak peek) Stylish Stripes Embossing Folders,
  • I added Strawberry Slush In color Ribbon to the bottoms of each rectangle then cover the seam where the CS overlapped the ribbon with a strip of the pearls. I layered the rectangles to make the cake and used Dimensionals to pop the cake on the card front.
  • I punched a pile of flowers from a scrap of Whisper White CS using the flower from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack,  using a foam mat and the stylus from the Simply Scored Board a cupped the flowers the added a small Pearl that I had colored with a sharpie. I added a pile of flowers on top of the cake and a small cluster on each layer of the cake,
  • I stamped the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes on a scrap of Whisper White CS with Strawberry Slush Ink I cut it out with a Bitty Banners Framelit. I popped it with Dimensionals at the base of the cake.
I think if I remake this card I will make the cake slightly smaller.

CASEing Pinterest punch art

Here is a link to my Pinterest punch art pin.

  • The card base is Real Red CS layered with Pacific Point CS.
  • I ran a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White CS through the Big Shot in the Houndstooth Embossing Folder. I used the Decorative Label Punch to punch an opening in the CS.
  • I made the punch art following the directions I found on Pinterest changing the color from baby colors to:
  • Giraffe- So Saffron and Baked Brown Sugar.
  • Lion- Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede.
  • Elephant- Smoky Slate and Basic Gray. I also used the Elegant Butterfly Punch for the ears.
  • I added the punch art pieces peeking through the opening in the CS and layered it onto the card base.
  • In a scrap of Whisper White CS I stamped the sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners inking the stamp with Real Red and Pacific Point markers. I cut it out with the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits and used Dimensionals to pop it up on the card front.
I'm still trying to catch up on filling my card rack.

Mr & Mrs

I thought I'd change things up and share a wedding card!

  • The card base is Whisper White CS. I added a layer of Coastal Cabana CS.
  • On a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Shimmer White CS I stamped the Mr & Mrs in Coastal Cabana than quickly poured on Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder(next time I will stamp the stamp in Versamark than in the Ink) I heat embossed it so that is has some sparkle. I added this to the layered card base.
  • Using the smallest heart from both the Hearts Collection and Hearts a Flutter Framelits I cut hearts from the Silver Glimmer Paper. I also punched hearts with the small heart punch and the heart on the Owl punch.  With a sponge dauber I added Coastal Cabana Ink to about half of them. I used Glue Dots and Dimensionals to add these to the card.
I liked how the card turned out. and plan to make a couple more using different colors.

Birthday Cake

Still making birthday cards this one uses a "single" stamp set.

  • The card base is Coastal Cabana CS.
  • I used Melon Mambo, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry Markers to color the stamp, I then stamped it on a piece of Whisper White CS. I used the Labels Collection Framelits to cut it out as well as cutting a piece of Melon Mambo CS a size larger. I sponged Bermuda Bay around the edges of the Whisper White CS before layering it onto the Melon Mambo and adding it to the base.
  • On a scrap of Whisper White CS I stamped the phrase from A Dozen Thoughts with Bermuda Bay Ink. I used a Apothecary Accents Framelit to cut it out using the magnetic base it was easy to move the framelit  to make it smaller so that it would fit inside one that was cut from Melon Mambo. I sponged the edges of the Whisper White with Coastal Cabana Ink.
One more card to add to my rack.

I thought I'd share how I store my Bakers Twine.
I don't like the bend that the cardboard leaves in the Bakers Twine so I save the empty spools from work and wrap the twine around them. I punch a circle from matching CS and adhere it to the ends. These fir over a peg on my peg board. I have been able to do all of my Bakers Twine as well as giving them to my customers so that they can do theirs.

Have a wonderful day!
