Occasional Quotes

I am really liking the Level 3 Hostess "Occasional Quotes" it is full of the best sayings for every occasion!
  • The base for this card is Very Vanilla, with a front of Riding Hood Red that has been run through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.
  • I stamped the phrase in Riding Hood Red and then with the black marker I colored the word Wonderful, then I stamped it on Very Vanilla CS, punching it out with the 1 3/4" circle punch.
  • The Designer Series Paper is "Love Letter" I used the Circles#2 Die (largest circle) for the circle mat, let it hang over the front, cutting it so the edge stayed straight. I added the stamped phrase to this, adding 3 of the Rhinestone Jewels under the words.
  • I cut two small strips of DSP and cut the ends with a V, layering them and adding it behind the circle.

This is one of the cards for Tuesday Open Studio, the hours for this day are 10a.m. to 2p.m. and 7p.m. to 9p.m.

Check my sidebar, I added more to my retired sale.

Greeting Card Kids-birthday

This is my favorite of the the cards I made with Greeting Card Kids!
  • Card base is Rich Razzleberry with a layer of Pacific Point then a layer of Naturals DSP.
  • I stamped the girl on watercolor paper and colored her with markers and an Aqua painter. I cut her out and while cutting cut off the valentine that was in her hand.
  • I stamped the balloon from Crazy for Cupcakes 3 times on watercolor paper colored one Rich Razzleberry, one Pacific Point and one Melon Mambo, and cut them out. I stamped the balloon again three times on the background DSP using my stamp-a-ma-jig to join them together.
  • I attached the girl so that her hand was holding the balloons, I attached the watercolored balloons popping up two of them with dimensionals.
  • I stamped Birthday Wishes from the level 3 Hostess set Occasional Quotes onto the DSP in Rich Razzleberry.

So this is my favorite of the four Greeting Card Kids that I have done, which one is yours? Be sure to check out my retired sale in the left side bar.

Greeting Card Kids-Winter

This card uses the third of the four images from Greeting Card Kids.
  • The base of this card is Very Vanilla, I layered a front of Love Letters DSP.
  • I stamped the image onto a piece of watercolor paper with stazon and colored it with Markers and an Aqua Painter(I think Markers and an Aqua Painter is the easiest way to watercolor, my next favorite way is the Watercolor Wonder Crayons).
  • I layered the image onto a piece of Garden Green and then onto a piece of textured Riding Hood Red.

So that is my card. . . I'm not so liking this one, I'll have to try again and see if I can come up with a card I like better.

Greeting Card Kids-Halloween

Here is another card using a different stamp from Greeting card kids.
  • The base of this card is Old Olive.
  • On a piece of Whisper White CS I repeat stamped the Fine Flourish image in Pumpkin Pie. Then added it to the card base.
  • The witch is stamped on watercolor paper with stazon and colored with markers and an Aqua Painter. I layered it on Concord Crush and again on a longer piece of Pumpkin Pie.
  • I colored a pieces of Taffeta ribbon with the Concord Crush marker evening out the color with a wet wipe.
  • I wrapped two pieces of Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain ribbon around the Pumpkin Pie CS with the Concord Crush ribbon in between.

So what do you think of the second Greeting Card Kids? I'm working on a class designed around this set. . .

Because I Care- again

I made another card with the level 1 Hostess set called Because I Care and the set Tiny Tags.
  • The base of the card is Regal Rose with a layer of Old Olive.
  • I stamped the hydrangea using Regal Rose and Old Olive randomly on Very Vanilla. After stamping I ran the CS through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice folder (I think it kind of makes the background look like fabric). I wrapped a piece of Old Olive ribbon around the lower half and added this to the other layers.
  • I stamped the hydrangea 4 times on scrap CS and cut each one out smaller then the one before. I layered each layer with dimensionals and then added the smallest pearls to the centers of the flowers. I cut the leaves out and left off the stem. I added the finished flower to a piece of Old Olive CS that I had punched the corners with the Ticket Corner punch.
  • I stamped a couple of phrases from Tiny Tags and punched them out and tied them to the knot on the ribbon with croquet thread.

If I were to redo the card I think I would make the piece of Old Olive CS under the flower a square instead of a rectangle. Tell me what you think and have a wonderful night.

Greeting Card Kids

I have stamped all 4 images and colored them, this is the only one I've made into a card, still have to decide what to to with the others, so check back over the next little while, I'm sure I'll get to them.
  • Card base is Very Vanilla.
  • The front is from the Naturals designer paper pack, River Rock.
  • I stamped the image on Watercolor paper with stazon and colored them with markers and an Aqua Painter.
  • Layers are Regal Rose, River Rock and Always Artichoke.
  • The phrase is from Occasional Quotes a level 3 Hostess Set. I stamped on the card front with Always Artichoke ink.

Let me know what you think of my card, I like to know what others think, how I can improve etc.

Fifth Avenue Floral

Most of my cards lately tend to be done in Naturals, it seems that I fixate on a color and have to force myself into other colors. Do you ever have that problem?
  • The card base on this card is Crumb Cake with a 4' x 5 1/4" Soft Suede then a 3 3/4" x 5" Very Vanilla. The Roses are Early Espresso, Lilies are Soft Suede ans Daisies are Crumb Cake.
  • I colored my Whisper White ribbon Soft Suede with a marker.
  • The mat for my phrase is from the Match Box die, cut from Soft Suede.
  • The phrase is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped on Very Vanilla in Soft Suede and punched with the Word Window.

Hope you like this card!

Blossom Party- Flip Flops

I used the Big Shot, Blossom Party die and Fun Foam to dress up some flip flops for my Granddaughter.
  • The Yellow Flower has a Chocolate Chip Brad as a center.
  • The White flowers have Tempting Turquoise buttons as the flower center.

I think they turned out cute and she loves them. So for a total cost of $3.02 a cute pair of flip flops!

Baby Tees

  • I ran just half of a piece of Daffodil Delight (8 1/2" x 5 1/2") in the Square Lattice folder through the Big Shot. then folded the paper in half (I have found that the folders shorten the paper slightly folding it after the Bog Shot makes all m edges even).
  • I punched a window in the card front with the Word Window Punch and on the inside of the card I stamped "Hello Baby".
  • I ran the Baby Tees on a piece of Whisper White and colored them Pear Pizazz, Daffodil Delight and Marina Mist. I layered it on a piece of Pear Pizazz.
  • I cut an additional Tee and cut it out and popped it on Dimensionals.

In Wilderness- bison

So I had a book by Diane Galbladon that was falling apart, it has been sitting on my closet shelf for 7 years, and I'm not sure why I never threw it away. I decided to use it for cards.
  • I put snail around the edges of a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper white, I then sponged the page edges with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede layered them this way and that way over the Whisper White then re cut it to the 4" x 5 1/4" size.
  • The card base is Crumb Cake lightly sponged with Soft Suede, layered with the pages then with the image.
  • I colored the stamp with Early Espresso and Soft Suede on the bison and Always Artichoke for the grass. I stamped it on Very Vanilla, roughed the edges and sponged lightly with Crumb Cake, layered it on Concord Crush, edges roughed, then on Soft Suede.
  • For the phrase I stamped it in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla, punched with the Word Window, then re punched with the Word Window to make it smaller, layered it on a piece of Soft Suede punched with the Modern Label, with brads on the ends.
My son Ryan is 16 today, he has spent the summer up the mountain working at a boy scout camp, his younger brother turned 14 last week and is now up there working as well, they are home for about 24 hours a week. So tonight, to surprise him, the family is going up to camp to celebrate his birthday with 80 of his co workers. The camp has a chef(by all accounts, a wonderful cook, my son who never puts on weight and is as skinny as a rail has gained 5 pounds), is making birthday cake, this is the card I am giving him as a thank you.

Sence of Time & Good-Things-to-Come

After making the card that I posted on June 24, I wondered what else cold be done with this stamp set, I realize this is very much the same, the first a masculine version and this a more feminine version.
  • This card was stamped on Whisper White that was sprayed with Shimmer spray the was made with the Frost Shimmer Paint.
  • The clocks are Crumb Cake.
  • The gears with Soft Suede.
  • The phrase is from a level 3 Hostess Set and I thought the words fit perfect with the images. The set is called Occasional Quotes, I stamped it on Whisper White with Soft Suede. I mounted it on Soft Suede also sprayed with Shimmer Spray.
I added Pearl Jewels to the center of the clock hands, these Pearls are wonderful they are found on page 188 of the catalog. the ribbon is threaded through a slit at the top of the card.

  • I stamped and colored a few things, made some small punch art, embossed, used the Big Shot, etc.

Updated the look of my blog. Because I care

I felt it was time to change the look of my blog. So how do you like the new look?

I played with the Because I Care set again, I am trying to go outside of my comfort zone on designs and layouts. I am also waiting for my new order to get here, so I can make some new cards with some new sets.

  • This card starts with a base of Baja Breeze.
  • My layers are Old Olive, Marina Mist and Whisper White.
  • I colored the hydrangea with Baja Breeze, Marina Mist and Old Olive markers and stamped it on Whisper White.
  • I also colored the small single flower and stamped it several time, then cut them out.
  • I randomly add the single flowers with dimensionals to the larger flower head to make it 3D.
  • I stamped the thank you in Marina Mist on Whisper White. The ovals on the sides of the image are the Large Oval punch in Whisper White, Marina Mist and Old Olive, layered off center of each other.

So tell me what you think.

Fast and Fabulous

I ordered this Hostess Set with my Pre-order, this is the first card I made with it, it will be in my Open Studio Tuesday Stamping for anyone to come and make.

  • I ran the front of the card base, Whisper White, through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice folder. Love the texture! Score and fold after you run it through, the folders make the paper shrink slightly.
  • I colored the stamp with Markers and then stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White.
  • I mounted it on Concord Crush and Old Olive.
  • For the Mr & Mrs I stamped it with Concord Crush on Whisper White, punched it out with the 1" circle, layered on 1 1/4" Old Olive circle, layered it with Dimensionals on a Concord Crush Large Oval, layered on a sizzlit cut with the Lots of Tags in Old Olive.

    Hope you like this card!
