Watercooler Wednesday Challenge 124 - Fiona's Masculine Anything Goes Challenge

Fiona hosted this week's challenge.

Masculine cards make me stretch myself.  I've had the stamp set Country Livin' since it came and I'm finally using it.  I thought the boot image would be great with the Faux Leather technique.

I heated tan fun foam with my heat gun until it started shrinking and was shiny, I pressed the stamp,  inked with Early Espresso ink, into the hot fun foam. It leaves a debossed image in the fun foam. I cut the fun foam and a piece of Dapper Denim cardstock with the largest circle Stitched Shapes Framelits(the fun foam shrinks that much).

The card base is Thick Whisper White and the layer is Pool Party sponged with Dapper Denim ink.
I used a thinlit from Eastern Medallions Thinlits and a Circle from Layering Circle Framelits to cut the Silver Foil and the same circle to cut Dapper Denim cardstock. I used a 1" strip of Wood Textures DSP as well as a coil of string I had on hand.

Check out the projects that the artists at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges have created then take the challenge and link your creation to the challenge post.

  1. Great card Kath - my daughter would love this - she's a horsey girl and used to love living in Texas with the horses and having dusty boots like these. When we came back to the UK in 2005 she brought her horse with her -it took him a while to get used to the cold climate but he's still around. Great card x

  2. Yee Haw! Great use of the Country Livin' stamp set Kath. I've never tried this faux suede technique, and it intrigues me. A great masculine card any guy country of not would love! Thanks for sharing.

  3. Wow, Kath, I really love how that fun foam looks like tooled leather. I've never tried that technique but I have to now. I have the stamp, after all, and a good guide as to how the finished product should look. I just love the results you got and your card. Great job!

  4. Cool technique Kath! I sure never guessed, from looking at your photo, that it was fun foam. A great masculine-themed card.
